Ganesh Utsav and Visarjan

Ganesha

Ganesh Utsav is a famous week-long festival across India with the Hindu God Ganesha as its central figure. Every year, Hindu YUVA organizes the Ganesh Utsav celebration as a conscious effort to bring together people from diverse backgrounds under the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity’. The main two days of the festival are the very first day (known as Poojan Day) and the very last day (Visarjan Day). It is a unique blend of Indian cultural representation, consisting of folk dance, various decorations and art styles from different states in India. The festivities and the jovial mood of the celebration always attracts other International and American students alike, including representatives from the Nepalese Students’ Association. On Visarjan, the last day of the festival encompasses various Indian folk dances and classical Indian music performances.
