Celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi at Iowa State University 2016. This happened on September 6, 2016 in SUV Community Center, Iowa State University. Ganesh Chaturthi is a very auspicious day celebrated to pray to the god Ganesha(Vighneswara) so that every new activity that is started is successfully completed without any obstacles and it is considered the day Lord Vigneswara was made the head of Ganas under Lord Shiva. Ganesh Chaturthi is a prominent festival in most parts of India, with major concentrations in southern, central and parts of western India.
During the event at ISU, students, as well as the community, took part in events like Ganapathi Pujan, Traditional Aarathi, Fun quizzes and khel along with making Ganesh idols with play dough(clay). The event concluded with a traditional Indian dinner. Here are some of the pics from the event.
