Hindu YUVA chapter at Iowa State University was formally established on January 12, 2013 by a group of enthusiastic students to explore more about Hindu Dharma and culture. There are around two million Hindus in the United States. It is essential for Hindus living here in USA to develop unity and harmony in their community to effectively promote and share their cultural values. Hindu YUVA aims to provide a platform to preserve, practice, promote and protect Hindu Dharma by bringing together Hindu youth across college campuses in United States. Our goals include, but are not limited to:
- Creating opportunities for college communities (students, staff and faculty members) to understand and practice Hindu Dharma, or the Hindu way of life.
- Conducting regular programs with focus on all the aspects of personality development (physical, mental and spiritual). We aim to develop strong character and leadership skills in our members, emphasizing values such as self-discipline, self-confidence and a spirit of selfless service for the society.
- Doing Sewa (service) activities in and around campus to benefit the local community.
- Raising awareness about issues affecting Hindus around the world.
- Representing Hindu thought in Interfaith dialogue.
